Luigi Orione was a priest of the Roman Catholic Church, founder of the Congregations of:

  • Sons of Divine Providence (priests, brothers, Hermits), 1100 religious in 30 countries;
  • Little Missionaries Sisters of Charity (Active and contemplative), 850 religious in 24 countries;
  • Blind Sacramentine Sisters for the Perpetual adoration of the Holy Eucharist;
  • Orionine Lay movement.

He was born in Pontecurone, in the northen Italian region of Piedmont on 24 June 1872, and died in Sanremo (Italy) on 12 March 1940. Was Canonised by Pope John Paul II in Rome on 16 May 2004. His body incorrupt can be seen in the Shrine of Madonna della Guardia in Tortona (AL) north Italy. References: [1] [2]
