There are two people named Lamech in the Old Testament.

Lamech of the line of Seth (Genesis 5:25-26, 28-31; 1 Chronicles 1:3; Luke 3:36) was the son of Methuselah, and became the father of Noah at the age of 182. Lamech died five years before the Great Flood. Lamech blessed Noah, saying "This same will comfort us in our work and in the toil of our hands, because of the ground which Yahweh has cursed." According to the Book of Enoch (accepted as canon by the Oriental Orthodoxy), this fulfilled a prophecy of Lamech's grandfather Enoch. Lamech lived to be 777.

Lamech of the line of Cain, son of Methushael, appears in Genesis 4:18-24. Lamech had two wives: Adah and Zillah. Adah gave birth to Jabal (the ancestor of shepherds) and Jubal (the ancestor of musicians). Zillah gave birth to Tubal Cain (the ancestor of metalworkers), and his sister Naamah. Lamech killed a man, and boasted of it: "If Cain will be avenged seven times, truly Lamech seventy-seven times.” (cf. Genesis 4:15.)
