Diakonia' is the ministry of service within those churches that recognize an ordained deacon. It is the primary function of the deacon but not solely to be identified with that office.
Anglicans believe that the Diakonia is a primary feature of the ministry of Christ, from which all Christian ministry is derived. As all ministry belongs to the whole church, it can also be said that diakonia is a formulation of the duty of service that all Christians have for one another and to the world.
